After two beta hCG tests, the first last Monday and
the other two days afterwards, we went back to the gynecologist for a follow-up last Thursday
morning.
She told us that my hCG levels
were low but that they had risen - not doubled, as they usually should during a normal
pregnancy, but risen, in any case. The sac had not grown, and she could not be sure
that it was actually in the uterus. Given those factors and several other
symptoms,
she thought there was a high enough risk of ectopic pregnancy to send me
directly to the hospital.
So off we went.
