This little exchange, memorialized in emails sent on our first February 14 together as a couple, while we were separated from each other by two continents and an ocean but linked by an internet connection and our words, is about as romantic as this Valentine’s Day, our first as newlyweds, will likely be:

Me: Oh – and happy Valentine’s Day!

Him, simply: Thank you.
